What: 2nd Tuesday painting session
When: Tuesday, May 14
Where: Twin Falls Center for the Arts
What time: 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 or so
What will we do: Collage!
- New to collage like me? See below a few YouTube videos with ideas for getting started
- After watching these videos, I was thinking that doing “something” with pieces of those “Gelli” prints we made might help me get started.
- Thanks ahead of time to all of you for sharing your collage skills and knowledge as we dip into this project. It helps all of us grow!
- And as always, you are welcome to work on whatever you want! Paint away, draw, etc. and if you are deep into something we would love to see what you are doing.
What to bring suggestions:
- Bring along art materials, old paintings to cut up, colored paper, art junk, Gelli prints, etc.,
- How about paper scraps, magazine pics, stickers, things to make texture, stamps, paint of any kind and other things piling up that are too good to toss, but now have a purpose.
- You will need some kind of glue or glue stick, or gel medium
- Brushes, scrapers, tools, pens, brushes
- Surface to work on. I have been working in a sketchbook, but am seeing people using canvas, watercolor paper, old books, etc.
- We will probably share materials, so don’t think you have to bring everything on this list!
Who can come: We welcome all artists at all levels to join us. (Yes you can call yourself that!)
Note:
This will be our last meeting at the Center until we start again on the 2nd Tuesday in September.
We recess in the summer since it is a busy time for most.
Classes at MVAC: Awesome opportunities!
- Leslie Lambert is doing a watercolor flowers class on May 11, from 10:00 until 12. “Spring Flowers”. Register online here!

Collage info from YouTube:
Margarete Miller – all the things you are probably thinking if you are not a collage artist –
She has good points to help you move through your “I can’t do it” feelings
Use old books – this video helps to know how to do “glue books”. Excellent info to get flat pages.
I loved this one! She is quick and walks you through the process. Makes you feel like you could do it too!
How about a Membership? Lots to learn at both of these places:
