Public Art

The Magic Valley Arts Council has also been instrumental in the creation and placement of several pieces of public art in Twin Falls.

The Millennium Sculpture

The millennium sculpture project was created in 1999 through a grant from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. One community in each state was selected for this grant, with Twin Falls representing Idaho. Artist Ted Clausen from Massachusetts was hired to create works representing the history of Twin Falls. Mr. Clausen resided in Twin Falls as artist-in-resident in the summer of 2000. The project culminated in three public art works: a bronze horse harness and engraved basalt rock downtown at the intersection of Shoshone and Main, a bronze filed plow with five engraved basalt rocks in City Park, and ceramic tiles made by local junior high students and installed at the Magic Valley Regional Airport.

The Centennial Art Project

In 2002, to celebrate the centennial of Twin Falls, MVAC collaborated with the Centennial Committee to commission a sculpture for the community. Artist Ralph Lehrman's bronze sculpture of I.B. Perrine was selected and created. The sculpture can be seen at the Buzz Langdon Visitor's Center, located on the canyon rim at the north edge of town.

The TwinsThe Twins

In 2008, as the initial piece of the City of Twin Falls' Art in Public Places Initiative, MVAC, in partnership with the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce and Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Department commissioned and installed a sculpture entitled "The Twins." The piece was created by Coeur d'Alene artist David Clemons, and was commissioned after a lengthy national RFP process. It can be seen at the Perrine Bridge Trail View Point on the canyon rim in Twin Falls, across Blue Lakes Boulevard from the Buzz Langdon Visitor's Center.
