Highlighting the Grain exhibit Open House – May 18

The Magic Valley Arts Council and Full Moon Gallery invite you to the Open House Artists Reception Thursday, May 18 from 5-7 pm at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts, 195 River Vista Pl. The Highlighting the Grain exhibit features new works by Full Moon Gallery Artists and Guest Artists Donald Pica and Jodi Silvers-Miller.

Twin Falls artist Donald Pica has been a woodworker since high school and has constructed many large pieces of furniture from American hardwoods, oak, walnut, cherry, alder, and maple. Since retirement from the College of Southern Idaho in 2006, he has pursued his hobby to a much greater degree, resulting in a large number of cut of pieces of hardwood. Using a lathe, he turns these blocks into beautifully unique bowls, containers, chargers, trays and tureens.

Originally from Twin Falls, Boise artist Jodi Silvers-Miller designed *beautiful words* to promote the idea that words create and words bring life. *beautiful words* seeks to unlock a person’s potential – carry promise that transcends cultural boundaries – deliver beauty, hope, and light into the world. *beautiful words* empower each individual – from those who help to create them, to the ones who give them, and ultimately, to those who receive them – helping each person to know and experience that they are created to be loved and, in turn, love others deeply. Since 2015, Jodi has free-hand engraved hundreds of custom key necklaces with a wood-carver.

Full Moon Gallery members are: Barbara Michener, Betsy Morishita, Bev Stone, Bud Starr, Connie Pepper, Corinne Slusser, Gerilyn Fuestel, Gloria Hann, Jan Mittleider, Joyce DeFord, Leon Smith, Neva Edwards, Paula Brown Sinclair, Paula Dodd, Jerry Dodds, Rick Kuhn, Rosi Eckert, Monica Yamamoto-Hoffmann, and Roy Mason.
