MVAC Host Idaho’s 1st Silversmith Symposium

2017 Snake River Silversmith Symposium

The Idaho Commission on the Arts together with the Magic Valley Arts Council will host Idaho’s first silversmith symposium June 16 and 17 at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts, 195 River Vista Pl.

Fourteen silversmiths from around the state will gather for two all-day sessions of classroom instruction and workshop opportunities. The weekend will provide an occasion for silversmiths to meet, network, update business and marketing aspects of their craft, add to their skill sets through a hands-on workshop, and discuss ideas for the perpetuation of their art form. To facilitate discussions, Cindy Kittredge of Cascade, Montana and Dave Murray of Billings, Montana have been invited as guests.

Cindy Kittredge will speak about the Artrepreneur Program she developed for the Montana Arts Council. Cindy developed the program for ?artists who create both functional and decorative work, those artists who are passionate about what they create and want to thrive doing what they love.?

Dave Murray learned silversmithing and engraving from his father. Recognized for his work making bits and spurs, buckles, and jewelry, Dave will be joined by Dave Alderson of Twin Falls for a workshop that focuses on fabrication and forming of silver.
