DESCRIPTION:Applications will be opening soon for ‘Magic Moments’\nApplication March 3 – June 1\, 2026\nShow dates are July 10 – August 28\, 2026\nAre you a member of the Magic Valley Arts Council? If so\, or if you plan to join\, this is the gallery exhibit opportunity for you! \nMagic Moments is our annual celebration of member talent. This is a non-themed\, non-juried show that seeks to display\, amplify\, and celebrate the many talents and skills of our membership. Any medium\, any style\, any subject (as long as it is appropriate for public display)\, we want it all! \nAs a special treat to our members\, the install fee is WAIVED for this exhibition. \nComplete your application here: FMG Application Form \n\n\nApplication Information:\n\n\n\n\n\nApplication Window: March 3 – June 1\, 2026\nAll 2D and 3D artists are encouraged to apply.\nEach application may include up to 10 works\, and you may apply up to 3 times for a total of 30 works submitted to the exhibit.\nWorks are reviewed by a Jury Committee\, and all artists selected will be notified in writing on or before June 11\, 2026\n\n\n\n\n\nImportant Dates:\n\n\n\n\n\nShow Dates – July 10 – August 28\, 2026\nApplications Open – March 3 – June 1\, 2026\nArtist Acceptance Notification – on or before June 11\, 2026\nInstallation Fees due – July 7\, 2026\nArtwork Delivery – July 7 from 11am – 5pm\nPublic Open House / Artist Reception – July 10 from  5-7pm\n\n\n\n\n\nFees:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nApplication: $20 per 10 works submitted. DESCRIPTION:Wide Open Skies: Painting Western Landscapes in Watercolor \nwith Leslie Lambert \nWednesdays\, April 8 – May 6 | 5:30-7:30pm \n$120 / MVAC Members \n$150 / Non-Members (membership begins at on $25/year! In this 6-week in-person course\, we’ll paint expansive skies\, rolling foothills\, sagebrush plains\, distant mountains\, and the warm shifting light that makes the west feel endless. Each lesson includes guided demonstrations\, clear step-by-step instruction\, and plenty of hands-on painting time. \nWe’ll learn how to layer transparent washes to create depth\, mix natural earth-inspired color palettes\, and use soft edges and atmospheric perspective to express distance and mood. The focus is on simple shapes\, confident brushwork\, and capturing the feeling of the landscape rather than detailed rendering. \nNo drawing experience needed – beginners and returning painters are welcome. \nPlease bring your own watercolor supplies (suggested supply list below)\, or purchase a complete beginner supply kit from Leslie for $75 – optional\, pre-order is recommended. Call MVAC at 208-734-2787 to reserve your kit. \n  \nSuggested Supply List  \n\nPaper: 1 full sheet (22×30”) of 100% Cotton 140 lb cold press watercolor paper. Alternatively\, you may bring a pad of watercolor paper\, or a watercolor journal or sketchbook with watercolor paper.\nmasking fluid (Winsor & Newton is best)\nassortment of watercolor brushes such as a #6 round brush with a good point\, a #12 round brush and/or ½” cat’s tongue brush\, Scrub brushes (soft and hard)\, and any other brush that you love to use\npencil and kneaded eraser\npalette\ntransfer paper\nwatercolor paints – suggested colors listed below. Pan or tube watercolors are fine\, bring what you like to use!\n\nCobalt Blue\nWinsor Blue (green shade)\, also called Thalo Blue or Intense Blue\nBurnt Sienna or Quinacridone Burnt Orange\nWinsor Yellow or Cadmium Yellow Light/Pale\nRaw Sienna (Winsor & Newton)\nQuinacridone Rose\, also called Permanent Rose\n\n\n\n  \nSupplies not included in the watercolor kit (please bring): \n\nboard to tape quarter sheet of paper on\nmasking tape\nspray bottles (soft mist and one with a harder spray)\nold towel or cloth\n\n  \nAbout the Instructor\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLeslie Lambert (also known as Leslie Redhead) is a celebrated artist known for her innovative poured watercolors. With a keen eye for detail and a mastery of color\, Lambert skillfully pours and manipulates pigments on paper\, resulting in stunning and dynamic compositions of the West. Her artwork\, characterized by vibrant hues\, has garnered widespread acclaim and has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and exhibitions worldwide. Lambert’s ability to push the boundaries of traditional watercolor painting has established her as a trail blazer in the arts. \nIn addition to signature status with the Cowgirl Artists of America (CGA)\, Lambert is a signature member of Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS)\, and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor. She is also an associate member of Women Artists of the West (WAOW). Lambert is the author of Watercolor 365: Daily Tips\, Tricks\, and Techniques and the illustrator of the children’s book\, Island in the Salish Sea\, by Sheryl McFarlane. Her work has been published in Western Art Collector\, Plein Air Magazine\, Western Art & Architecture\, Watercolor Artist\, The Artist’s Network\, and Splash 10: The Best of Watercolor. \nLambert is an adjunct professor of art at the College of Southern Idaho and teaches workshops throughout U.S.\, Canada\, Spain\, and Morrocco. It is such a busy time. Take time for yourself. This is a perfect option for a sketchbook or a card! While she generally focuses on watercolor and woodworking\, you may find her dabbling in a wide variety of art forms.
