DESCRIPTION:Watercolor Wings: Mastering Birds in Watercolor \nwith Leslie Lambert \nWednesdays\, April 9 – May 7 | 5-7pm \n$120 / MVAC Members \n$150 / Non-Members (membership begins at on $25/year! Click here to join or renew your membership and save.) \nRegister online below\, or call 208-734-ARTS (2787) to sign up! \n  \nThis watercolor course is dedicated to painting birds\, designed for artists of all experience and levels. Throughout this course\, we’ll explore techniques needed to capture vibrant colors\, textures\, and unique character of different bird species. From songbirds to majestic birds of prey\, you’ll learn how to bring these subjects to life through detailed brushwork\, color layering\, and washes of color. \n  \nSuggested Supply List (alternatively\, you can buy a supply kit from the instructor for $75) \nPaints  \nAny professional brand of tube watercolor or Cotman Student Brand will work. \n\nWinsor Blue (also called Thalo Blue) or Intense Blue or Prussian Blue\nCadmium Yellow Light OR Winsor Yellow\nPermanent Alizarin Crimson\nPermanent/Quincradone Rose\nFrench Ultramarine Blue\nBurnt Sienna\nRaw Sienna\nQuinacridone Sienna (optional)\n\nPaper \n\nA full sheet (22×30”) of 100% cotton\, 140 lb cold press watercolor paper (I prefer Arches or Winsor & Newton brand). We will be doing the paintings on quarter sheets (11×15”) or smaller. You may also choose the size you prefer.\n\nBrush \n\n#4 round watercolor brush\nGood quality #6 round watercolor brush\n#12 round watercolor brush\n\nPalette \nOther (items not included in the supply kit) \n\nWater container\nPaper towels/cloth\nPencil and eraser\nBoard large enough to hold a ¼ sheet of paper (foamcore works well for this)\nMasking tape\nScrub brush or child’s size toothbrush\nSpray bottle (light mist)\nTransfer paper (optional)\n\n  \nAbout the Instructor\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLeslie Lambert (also known as Leslie Redhead) is an award-winning artist\, teacher\, illustrator\, and author known for her dramatic watercolors. Her art focuses on the combination of spontaneity and detail that watercolor has to offer. She continues to explore the possibilities and pushes the medium beyond its limitations to achieve luminous and incredible results. \nLeslie’s paintings are in private and corporate collections worldwide. She has a Master of Education in Art Education and holds signatures with Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS) and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC). Leslie teaches painting and drawing at the University of Victoria in Victoria\, BC and conducts workshops in Canada\, the U.S.\, and Spain. She currently resides near Spokane\, WA. \nHer work is featured in Splash 10: Passionate Brushstrokes from the Splash: Best of Watercolor series\, Leslie Redhead: the life of an artist\, and Making It! Case Studies of Successful Canadian Artists. She is the author of Watercolor 365 and illustrator the children’s book\, Island in the Salish Sea by Sheryl McFarlane.
