We will learn the different between permanent ink and water-soluble ink and the best way to use both. In this 6-week in-person course\, we’ll paint expansive skies\, rolling foothills\, sagebrush plains\, distant mountains\, and the warm shifting light that makes the west feel endless. Each lesson includes guided demonstrations\, clear step-by-step instruction\, and plenty of hands-on painting time. \nWe’ll learn how to layer transparent washes to create depth\, mix natural earth-inspired color palettes\, and use soft edges and atmospheric perspective to express distance and mood. Her artwork\, characterized by vibrant hues\, has garnered widespread acclaim and has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and exhibitions worldwide. Lambert’s ability to push the boundaries of traditional watercolor painting has established her as a trail blazer in the arts. \nIn addition to signature status with the Cowgirl Artists of America (CGA)\, Lambert is a signature member of Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS)\, and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor. She is also an associate member of Women Artists of the West (WAOW). Lambert is the author of Watercolor 365: Daily Tips\, Tricks\, and Techniques and the illustrator of the children’s book\, Island in the Salish Sea\, by Sheryl McFarlane. What does color sound like? In this unique and expressive watercolor workshop\, we’ll explore the connection between music and painting. Using rhythm\, repetition\, contrast\, and flow\, you’ll learn how to let music guide your brush – creating abstract or semi-abstract paintings inspired by sound. \nWe’ll begin with short listening and painting exercises to explore how different types of music affect your color choices\, brushwork\, and energy. We’ll learn how to make smooth sky washes\, suggest falling snow\, and add just enough detail to create a peaceful scene that feels still and serene. No drawing experience is needed – we’ll paint step-by-step together\, and you’ll be surprised at how beautifully your winter landscape comes to life. \nAll supplies are provided. Just come as you are\, relax\, and paint. \n  \nAbout the Instructor: \nLeslie Lambert (also known as Leslie Redhead) is a celebrated artist known for her innovative poured watercolors. With a keen eye for detail and a mastery of color\, Lambert skillfully pours and manipulates pigments on paper\, resulting in stunning and dynamic compositions of the West. Her artwork\, characterized by vibrant hues\, has garnered widespread acclaim and has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and exhibitions worldwide. Lambert’s ability to push the boundaries of traditional watercolor painting has established her as a trail blazer in the arts. \nIn addition to signature status with the Cowgirl Artists of America (CGA)\, Lambert is a signature member of Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS)\, and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor. She is also an associate member of Women Artists of the West (WAOW). Lambert is the author of Watercolor 365: Daily Tips\, Tricks\, and Techniques and the illustrator of the children’s book\, Island in the Salish Sea\, by Sheryl McFarlane. Sketchbooks can be used to record your art journey and tell your unique story. You will learn how to use your sketchbook as a visual journal of your daily experiences using illustrations and words. Sketchbooks are a great way to record travel. In this workshop\, you will learn how to set up attractive pages using drawings\, paintings\, pictures\, lettering\, stamps\, stencils\, stickers\, maps\, and more. \nAs a theme for this workshop\, we will focus on icons of the holiday seasons. We will be using references common to the holidays to design pages that tell your unique story. You are welcome to use another theme if you choose. Her art focuses on the combination of spontaneity and detail that watercolor has to offer. She continues to explore the possibilities and pushes the medium beyond its limitations to achieve luminous and incredible results. \nLeslie’s paintings are in private and corporate collections worldwide. She has a Master of Education in Art Education and holds signatures with Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS) and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC). Leslie teaches painting and drawing at the University of Victoria in Victoria\, BC and conducts workshops in Canada\, the U.S.\, and Spain. She currently resides near Spokane\, WA. \nHer work is featured in Splash 10: Passionate Brushstrokes from the Splash: Best of Watercolor series\, Leslie Redhead: the life of an artist\, and Making It! Case Studies of Successful Canadian Artists. She is the author of Watercolor 365 and illustrator the children’s book\, Island in the Salish Sea by Sheryl McFarlane. Leslie is represented by Horizon Fine Art in Jackson Hole\, Wyoming\, Trail’s End Gallery in Chewelah\, Washington\, and the Kube Gallery in Fort Langley\, BC.
