DESCRIPTION:Painting Water in Watercolor: From Still Pools to Roaring Waves \nwith Leslie Lambert \nThursdays\, September 18 – October 30 (no class Oct 2) | 5:30-7:30pm \n$120 / MVAC Members \n$150 / Non-Members (membership begins at on $25/year! In this immersive class\, we’ll explore the many moods of water\, from the glassy stillness of a mountain lake to the crashing drama of ocean waves\, and even the explosive energy of geysers. You’ll learn how to capture movement\, light\, and atmosphere while building confidence in painting everything from calm reflections to dynamic splashes. \nWe’ll cover techniques for: \n· Painting reflections on still water \n· Creating the illusion of depth and transparency \n· Depicting ripples\, waves\, and surf \n· Expressing movement and force in crashing waves and geysers \n· Using color and value to create believable water scenes \nWhether you’re drawn to serene landscapes or energized by nature’s power\, this class will give you the tools and techniques to bring water to life on the page. Open to all levels. \n  \nRequired Supply List (alternatively\, you can buy a supply kit from the instructor for $85) \n· Paper: 1 full sheet (22×30”) of 100% Cotton 140 lb cold press watercolor paper. I prefer Arches or Winsor & Newton. We will be doing quarter sheet (11×15”) paintings \n· masking fluid (Winsor & Newton is best) \n· #6 round brush with a good point \n· #12 round brush and/or ½” cat’s tongue brush \n· Scrub brushes (soft and hard) \n· 2-3” hake brush \n· pencil and kneaded eraser \n· palette \n· transfer paper \n· ruling pen/straw \nPaints: \no Cobalt Blue \no Winsor Blue (green shade)\, also called Thalo Blue or Intense Blue \no Burnt Sienna or Quinacridone Burnt Orange \no Winsor Yellow or Cadmium Yellow Light/Pale \no Raw Sienna (Winsor & Newton) \no Quinacridone Rose\, also called Permanent Rose \n  \nSupplies not included in the watercolor kit (please bring): \n· board to tape quarter sheet of paper on \n· masking tape \n· spray bottles (soft mist and one with a harder spray) \n· paper towels \n· water container \n· old towel or cloth \n  \nAbout the Instructor\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLeslie Lambert (also known as Leslie Redhead) is an award-winning artist\, teacher\, illustrator\, and author known for her dramatic watercolors. Her art focuses on the combination of spontaneity and detail that watercolor has to offer. She continues to explore the possibilities and pushes the medium beyond its limitations to achieve luminous and incredible results. \nLeslie’s paintings are in private and corporate collections worldwide. She has a Master of Education in Art Education and holds signatures with Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS) and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC). Leslie teaches painting and drawing at the University of Victoria in Victoria\, BC and conducts workshops in Canada\, the U.S.\, and Spain. She currently resides near Spokane\, WA. \nHer work is featured in Splash 10: Passionate Brushstrokes from the Splash: Best of Watercolor series\, Leslie Redhead: the life of an artist\, and Making It! Case Studies of Successful Canadian Artists. She is the author of Watercolor 365 and illustrator the children’s book\, Island in the Salish Sea by Sheryl McFarlane. DESCRIPTION:Applications are open now for ‘From Music’\nApplication Window October 14 – January 5\, 2026\nShow dates are February 13 – April 3\, 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Full Moon Gallery is now accepting submissions for our next show From Music\, a community art exhibition focused on the ways music inspires creativity. \nWe’re looking for pieces that are influenced by music in any form. That could mean artwork made with or from sheet music\, pieces inspired by a favorite song or lyric\, or event abstract works that reflect the feeling or rhythm of music. If your art connects to music in some way\, we want to see it. \nWhether you’re working in paint\, collage\, sculpture\, fiber\, or any other medium\, this is a chance to share how music shows up in your creative process. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFMG Application Form\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nApplication Information:\n\n\n\n\n\nApplication Window: October 14 – January 5\, 2026\nAll 2D and 3D artists are encouraged to apply.\nEach application may include up to 10 works\, and you may apply up to 3 times for a total of 30 works submitted to the exhibit.\nWorks are reviewed by a Jury Committee\, and all artists selected will be notified in writing on or before January 13\, 2026\n\n\n\n\n\nImportant Dates:\n\n\n\n\n\nShow Dates – February 13 – April 3\, 2026\nApplications Open – October 14 – January 5\, 2026\nArtist Acceptance Notification – on or before January 13\, 2026\nInstallation Fees due – February 10\, 2026\nArtwork Delivery – February 10\, 2026 from 11am – 5pm\nPublic Open House / Artist Reception – February 13\, 2025 from  5-7pm\n\n\n\n\n\nFees:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nApplication: $20 per 10 works submitted. You may apply up to 3 times per exhibition\, for a total of 30 works submitted per show.\nInstallation: $40 for MVAC Members\, $48 for Not-Yet-Members (yearly MVAC membership begins at $25 – click here for more info) per 10 works accepted.\n25% MVAC Commission on any works sold during the show.\n\n\nAll artwork will need to installation ready – framed (if applicable) with a suitable hanger on the back\, gallery wrapped canvas with finished edge\, etc. MVAC and all employees does not assume any liability for lost\, stolen\, or damaged artwork while on display. All artists are strongly recommended to carry liability insurance.
