In this immersive class\, we’ll explore the many moods of water\, from the glassy stillness of a mountain lake to the crashing drama of ocean waves\, and even the explosive energy of geysers. You’ll learn how to capture movement\, light\, and atmosphere while building confidence in painting everything from calm reflections to dynamic splashes. \nWe’ll cover techniques for: \n· Painting reflections on still water \n· Creating the illusion of depth and transparency \n· Depicting ripples\, waves\, and surf \n· Expressing movement and force in crashing waves and geysers \n· Using color and value to create believable water scenes \nWhether you’re drawn to serene landscapes or energized by nature’s power\, this class will give you the tools and techniques to bring water to life on the page. She continues to explore the possibilities and pushes the medium beyond its limitations to achieve luminous and incredible results. \nLeslie’s paintings are in private and corporate collections worldwide. She has a Master of Education in Art Education and holds signatures with Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS) and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC). Leslie teaches painting and drawing at the University of Victoria in Victoria\, BC and conducts workshops in Canada\, the U.S.\, and Spain. Both beginners and more advanced artists will enjoy creating designs that are as simple or elaborate as you please!  \nAll materials provided. She continues to explore the possibilities and pushes the medium beyond its limitations to achieve luminous and incredible results. \nLeslie’s paintings are in private and corporate collections worldwide. She has a Master of Education in Art Education and holds signatures with Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS) and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC). Leslie teaches painting and drawing at the University of Victoria in Victoria\, BC and conducts workshops in Canada\, the U.S.\, and Spain. She currently resides near Spokane\, WA. \nHer work is featured in Splash 10: Passionate Brushstrokes from the Splash: Best of Watercolor series\, Leslie Redhead: the life of an artist\, and Making It! Sketchbooks are a great way to record travel. DESCRIPTION:Applications will be opening soon for ‘Wide Open Spaces: The Lives & Livelihoods of the American West’\nApplication Window January 6 – March 3\, 2026\nShow dates are April 10 – May 29\, 2026\nThe Full Moon Gallery will be accepting submissions soon for our spring 2026 exhibition\, Wide Open Spaces: The Lives & Livelihoods of the American West. This show is a love letter to our community and western culture\, reflecting the landscapes\, people\, environments\, animals\, and everything else that makes the place we call home. \nWe’re looking for art that shows the west in all its unique forms. That could mean photography from iconic peaks to the smallest critters\, sculpture showing the flora and fauna of the region\, paintings capturing western textures and big skies\, portraits of cowhands and ranchers\, indigenous beading and weaving\, silversmithing\, leatherworking\, and more. This gentle\, beginner-friendly class focuses on simple techniques that let color flow naturally\, creating the quiet atmosphere of winter without stress or pressure. We’ll learn how to make smooth sky washes\, suggest falling snow\, and add just enough detail to create a peaceful scene that feels still and serene. No drawing experience is needed – we’ll paint step-by-step together\, and you’ll be surprised at how beautifully your winter landscape comes to life. \nAll supplies are provided. Just come as you are\, relax\, and paint. \n  \nAbout the Instructor: \nLeslie Lambert (also known as Leslie Redhead) is a celebrated artist known for her innovative poured watercolors. With a keen eye for detail and a mastery of color\, Lambert skillfully pours and manipulates pigments on paper\, resulting in stunning and dynamic compositions of the West. Her artwork\, characterized by vibrant hues\, has garnered widespread acclaim and has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and exhibitions worldwide. Lambert’s ability to push the boundaries of traditional watercolor painting has established her as a trail blazer in the arts. \nIn addition to signature status with the Cowgirl Artists of America (CGA)\, Lambert is a signature member of Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS)\, and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor. She is also an associate member of Women Artists of the West (WAOW). Lambert is the author of Watercolor 365: Daily Tips\, Tricks\, and Techniques and the illustrator of the children’s book\, Island in the Salish Sea\, by Sheryl McFarlane. Her work has been published in Western Art Collector\, Plein Air Magazine\, Western Art & Architecture\, Watercolor Artist\, The Artist’s Network\, and Splash 10: The Best of Watercolor. \nLambert is an adjunct professor of art at the College of Southern Idaho and teaches workshops throughout U.S.\, Canada\, Spain\, and Morocco. She is represented by Trails End Gallery in Chewelah\, Washington and Horizon Fine Art in Jackson\, Wyoming. Lambert currently divides her time between Burley\, Idaho and Colville\, Washington where she creates works of art portraying vast expanses of the western landscape.
