SUMMARY:Indie Lens Pop-Up: Free for All - The Public Library
DESCRIPTION:WHAT: FREE screening of Free for All: The Public Library\, followed by a panel of local librarians and a Speed Date with a Book activity! \nWHEN: March 18\, 6pm \nWHERE: Sligar Auditorium\, Magic Valley Arts Council\, 195 River Vista Place \nRSVP: Save a seat by RSVPing below! \nEVENT TO FEATURE SCREENING\, LOCAL LIBRARIAN PANEL\, AND A ‘SPEED DATE WITH A BOOK’ ACTIVITY. \n  \nIndie Lens Pop-Up\, presented by ITVS\, INDEPENDENT LENS\, and Magic Valley Arts Council will host a screening of “Free for All: The Public Library\,” featuring a local librarian panel and a fun audience activity following the panel. Directed\, written\, and produced by Dawn Logsdon and Lucie Faulknor. \nFree for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the ‘Free Library Movement’ to today’s librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans\, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all. \nAttend this screening to hear personal stories from local female librarians from the Magic Valley\, covering why they became a librarian and what having free and open libraries and reading access mean to them. And be sure to bring along your favorite book\, as immediately following the panel we will be hosting a fun ‘Speed Dating’ style book review! Pair up with a neighbor and have a five minute conversation about why the books you chose are impactful. Then\, in true ‘speed dating’ fashion\, one person will get up and move to a new table to begin a new conversation. This is a great way to share your love of reading and find new friends along the way! \n  \nAbout Indie Lens Pop-Up \nIndie Lens Pop-Up is a community series that brings people together for film screenings and conversations.
