SUMMARY:Herrett Forum presents: Navigating the Changing Landscape of Public Libraries
DESCRIPTION:Date: Tuesday\, February 11\, 2025 \nCost: Free \nDoors open: 7:00pm | Presentation starts 7:30pm \nLocation: Rick Allen Room in the Herrett Center\, Twin Falls\, ID \nNavigating the Changing Landscape of Public Libraries in Idaho\nPublic Libraries serve a mission to provide resources to all community members. A national movement to restrict access to certain media in public libraries has come to Idaho. A new state law requires libraries to move materials considered harmful to minors or risk a lawsuit. Many community members support this law\, as well as future restrictions. Others champion the freedom of access to materials\, regardless of personal opinions. Charged with the daunting task of following the new library law\, how are public libraries navigating this new landscape?

SUMMARY:BAND AID: A Benefit Concert for the QRU
DESCRIPTION:What: Four musical acts\, raffle baskets\, and beverages! \nWhen: February 28\, 7pm | Doors open at 6:45pm \nWhere: Magic Valley Arts Council Sligar Auditorium\, 195 River Vista Place\, Twin Falls \nCost: Tickets are $20/ea\, purchase tickets online below or by calling 208-734-ARTS (2787) \n  \nJoin Xavier Charter School senior McKale Crane as he presents his senior project Band Aid – a benefit concert entirely mixed\, produced\, and presented by him! Featuring four local bands\, raffle baskets with goodies from local businesses\, and tasty beverages\, this event promises to be a rocking good time for a good cause. \nAll proceeds from this event will be donated to the QRU Nonprofit Organization\, a local nonprofit that creates awareness and support for rural emergency first responders. The majority of these men and women work on a volunteer basis while purchasing many of their much needed supplies and training using their own personal funds.  They use their own vehicles a lot of the time and leave their “day jobs” to respond to emergencies as they arise.  The QRU teams are the first line of response to many of our outdoor enthusiast activity areas and are oftentimes behind the scenes of appreciation.  Injuries or accidents suffered by outdoor enthusiasts and travelers on rural highways and roads often occur in areas far from a local hospital and emergency services.  Without these units being available in rural areas\, response from an emergency team could take over an hour or more. \n  \nFeatured acts: \n\nCoel Harris Trio\n\nKnown for their blend of Bluegrass and Rock\, the Coel Harris Trio bring a unique flair to old favorites. \n\nAvery Soloaga\n\nSolo act\, ensemble stage presence! Avery Soloaga entrances audiences with a smooth blend of Folk and Country stylings. \n\nHeath Owens Band\n\nThe Heath Owens Band’s songs and live shows blend a combination of real life\, soulful lyricism and angsty unavoidable singalong choruses that get the crowd up and involved in the show\, EVERYTIME. \n\nCarson Hasher\n\nSoulful vocals and skillful guitar will be on display by Carson Hasher as he tickles your eardrums with his signature country flavor! \n
