DESCRIPTION:What:  2nd Tuesday painting session: Versals \nWhen:  Tuesday\, January 14 \nWhere:  Twin Falls Center for the Arts \nWhat time:  10:00 a.m. until 1:00 or so \nWhat to bring:  Paints\, markers\, or ways to add color; paper\, watercolor or sketchbook\, or cardstock; pencil & ruler. Optional: if you have a poem\, verse\, name \, or song that you think might be a fit with this project\, bring it along and you may be able to incorporate other lettering into your piece. \nWho can come:  We welcome all painters to join us.  Paint in whatever medium you like to use. If you don’t want to try a Versal\, that’s ok! Bring what you are working on. \nDirections:  Twin Falls Center for the Arts – MVAC classroom on the second floor. \n  \nWhat will we do: \nWe plan to do Illuminated Lettering\, also known as “versals “. \nA versal is a large capital letter used to start out a word\, poem\, verse\, name\, or song. \nWe will be decorating them in a variety of ways\, using both watercolor and pen and ink.  (Pens will be provided) \nWe will make use of both positive and negative spaces to make our designs expressive\, unique and fun! \n  \n\nIWS MEMBERSHIP:  For members of Idaho Watercolor Society\, it is time to renew your membership.  Or if you are not a member and want to join\, we would love to have you become a member!\n\nGo to the IWS website\, https://www.idahowatercolorsociety.org and click the “Join” button.\nDues are $45. You can pay online\, or mail your check if you prefer.\nMembership allows you to enter local and juried shows\, attend workshops at a lower cost and participate in statewide events sponsored by IWS.  (FYI:  IWS encourages membership\, but is not required to attend our 2nd Tuesday events at MVAC)\n\n\nMVAC MEMBERSHIP:  If you are not already a member of Magic Valley Arts Council\, your membership would be an opportunity to be a part of an exciting Art Scene in Twin Falls!\n\nMVAC offers a vibrant list of art activities through the year\, and your membership lets you sign up at a lower price for MVAC activities!\nIt is easy to sign up.  Stop by the office on the main floor of the Center and sign up.\nDues are $25.  You will reap even more the benefits by being a member! Influenced by musicians such as Jack Johnson\, Bob Marley\, and Grateful Dead\, Dillon’s music is a fusion of folk\, reggae\, and storytelling. Dillon hopes his music takes listeners on a journey of introspection\, nostalgia\, and joy. \nMusic has always been a big part of Kaden Tyree’s life while growing up in Twin Falls. Kaden started playing the guitar when he was 9 and as a 15-year-old he currently attends Canyon Ridge High School where his talents are well recognized. Kayden plays music from a wide array of genres and time periods\, from the 90’s to current day compositions. \nMeet the artists and enjoy refreshments served during Intermission.

Dive into the Wild West as we explore the art of paper crafting and collage to create your own saloons\, desert landscapes\, or wild west critters! All materials are provided – just bring your imagination and a sense of adventure! \nAttendance is no charge\, but we request that you RSVP online below or by calling 208-734-ARTS (2787) so we have an idea of how many kids to plan for. \n  \nNote: this is a first come\, first serve event. Get all the details\, how-tos\, 2025 changes\, and more below! \n\nArtist registration is open from January 1 until midnight on March 31\, 2025. \n  \nEnter work now for a chance at up to $50\,000 in prize money!\nThe Magic Valley Arts Council is pleased to announce the 15th annual Art & Soul of the Magic Valley\, to be held June 6 – 28\, 2025 in Twin Falls\, Idaho. We are seeking entries from artists around the world to participate in this community-wide event! \nArt & Soul of the Magic Valley is a major non-juried art competition held in Twin Falls\, Idaho\, from June 6 to June 28\, 2025. Artists worldwide are invited to submit one artwork for a chance to win up to $50\,000 in prize money. The competition is unique as all submitted artworks will be physically displayed in local businesses serving as pop-up art galleries. Winners will be determined by public vote during the event\, which attracts around 40\,000 attendees\, making it one of the most beloved art shows in the Western US. \nApply online here! – OPENS JANUARY 1\, 2025\nKey Information\n\nEligibility: Anyone is eligible to enter Art & Soul of the Magic Valley\, except the GRAND PRIZE WINNER from the previous year.\nEntry: Each artist or group may submit only one entry\, in one category. An entry may involve multiple pieces with a common theme (a series of work). Each entry will pay a one-time non-refundable entry fee. Any artist who withdraws from the contest after entering will be charged a  $250 fee in order to reimburse your sponsor and venue who have paid to host your artwork.\nVoting: with the success of the voting platform introduced last year\, we are pleased to announce mobile voting and self-voter registration will be available again this year! Voters must register while within 15 miles of the Magic Valley Arts Council headquarters. Once registered\, voters can cast one vote per piece\, and may vote for as many pieces as they wish.\nPrizes: Up to $50\,000 will be distributed to as many as 98 artists.
