RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED – email HAFO_Information@nps.gov to RSVP.\n\nHagerman Fossil Beds National Monument invites members of the public to learn more about the history of horses and Chinese communities in Idaho by participating in special programs that the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument will host and by visiting the park in 2026\, which is the “Year of the Fire Horse” in the zodiac calendar used in many Asian cultures!\n\n\nThe Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument\, located between Boise and Twin Falls\, preserves hundreds of species of three- to four-million-year-old plant and animal fossils\, including the world’s largest assemblage of “Hagerman Horse” (Equus simplicidens) fossils. While the Hagerman Horse is native to North America\, the genus Equus spread to Asia\, and fossils similar to the Hagerman Horse have been found in China. Historic remnants of Chinese communities centered around gold mining and railroad industry work in the 1800s are still present in the area near the park.\n\n\nThe Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument will host one special in-person or virtual Year of the Fire Horse program each month\, from February through September. A program schedule and additional details are available on the park website and below. Members of the public are also encouraged to visit the park\, which is still an active site where paleontologists continue to conduct research and discover new fossils. There will be a community discussion following the film. \n  \nJoin Indivisible Twin Falls County Idaho for a special screening of the acclaimed documentary The Librarians\, followed by a post-film community discussion to talk about how we protect the freedom to read right here in Idaho.\nFeatured at the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW Film and TV Festival\, this documentary follows librarians as they fight against an anti-government extremist group whose aim is to remove books from school libraries in Texas.\nLibrarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights. As they well know\, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communities.\nIn Texas\, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate\, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment\, threats\, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale.

Auditions are May 8 – 11\, interested participants should complete the audition form found here: https://twinfallstheatre.com/audition/come-from-away/ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAudition Dates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMay 8\, 2026 from 6-9pm\nMay 9\, 2026 from 4-7pm\nMay 11\, 2026 from 7-9pm (CALLBACKS ONLY IF NEEDED)\n\n\n\nAs long as you check in prior to the end time\, you will be allowed to audition. In-person auditions are located at Twin Falls Theatre Collective. 310 Main St\, Filer\, ID 83328. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRehearsals beginning July 13th\, 2026. Auditions will be first come\, first served and you will sign in at the audition and be seen in the order of sign in. Headshots are highly recommended for your audition application. Resumes are optional but are also great if you have one. \nThe cast size is 12. We will not expand the cast\, so each actor will be playing multiple roles.  \n\n\nReading: Please prepare 2 contrasting monologues of roughly 1 minute in length each. In addition\, actors will be asked to cold read from the script. You will also be asked to read with an accent. Please review the pronunciation guide and be prepared to use it in your monologue OR in the cold read. \nMusical Information: Prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show (about 90-120 seconds). You can bring a track or an accompanist. There is a piano is available. The director has no preference on whether you prepare a song from the show or something in the style of the show. \nChoreography: The choreography videos for auditions are linked here: video 1\,  video 2. Please be prepared to dance in small groups about every 30 minutes. Based on when you sign in you may dance before your audition\, or you may need to wait until the next small group is ready to do the dance portion of your audition. DESCRIPTION:Sun Printing: Glass Plate Negative Cyanotypes \nwith Ben Lustig \nTuesday\, August 25 & Wednesday\, August 26 | 10am – 12pm each day \n$25 / MVAC Members \n$30 / Non-Members (membership begins at on $25/year! If the minimum is not reached\, registered students will be refunded or moved into an alternate class of their choosing.\n  \nThe glass plate negative to the Cyanotype\, the latter formerly known as the “sun print\,” is one of the oldest known photographic pairings in the history of photography and one of the most archival. Students in this session will be using spray paint\, natural objects and glass etching to create a negative of his/her choosing. This negative will then be contact printed onto the cyanotype solution-coated watercolor paper to make one-of-a-kind prints. This is where history meets the contemporary in the coolest way. If you’re a creative person looking for an awesome way to spend a few hours of your time\, or enjoy with a friend\, this is a session you don’t want to miss! \n  \nAbout the Instructor\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBen Lustig is a Professor of Photography in CSI’s Arts and Humanities Department. We are so excited for him to teach a class here at the Magic Valley Arts Council!\n\n\nBen’s journey into photography started in high school after seeing a gelatin silver print of a playground slide reflecting clouds. That single image changed everything. He bought a camera\, took a darkroom class during his first year at the University of South Dakota (while he was pre-med)\, and never looked back. After changing majors a few times\, he earned his B.S. in Mass Communications with minors in English and Photography\, then went on to complete his MFA in Photographic Mediums at East Carolina University.\n\n\nBefore coming to CSI\, Ben taught at both ECU and Pitt Community College\, working across digital\, darkroom\, design\, and photography history courses. Today at CSI\, he teaches all photography courses\, including introductory and advanced digital and darkroom\, studio photography\, and Appreciation and History of Photography (a course he originally designed himself).\n\n\nHe also leads a landscape photography workshop each summer in southern Utah\, giving students a hands-on\, real-world experience that blends both the technical and philosophical sides of photography. Ben’s advice for students: You don’t need to be “good” at art to take an art class. SUMMARY:FMG Call for Entry - Art of the Gift
DESCRIPTION:Applications will be opening soon for ‘Art of the Gift’\nApplication Window August 4 – October 5\, 2026\nShow dates are November 6 – January 1\, 2027\nYou’re invited to apply to Art of the Gift\, the Full Moon Gallery’s annual holiday show the celebrates the spirit of a handmade holiday! We are encouraging artists to submit works that are perfect for holiday gifting\, with a focus on smaller\, gift-sized pieces that will bring joy to holiday shoppers seeking unique and meaningful presents. \nWe are seeking art of all kinds for this exhibition. This is a non-themed show\, our only request is that works are accessible in size and cost to the general public. 3D pieces are especially popular this time of year – ceramicists\, woodworkers\, jewelers\, fiber artists – this is your time! \nSpecial for this exhibit only\, prints (both framed and unframed) and cards will be accepted! If you submit prints\, please also plan to provide a method for display – print rack\, nice box\, etc. \nWe are also accepting series of items as one on the application – i.e. if you have a number of items (bowls\, mugs\, ornaments\, etc) that are priced the same and not individually titled\, these pieces together would count as one work on the application. Please be sure to list how many of each piece you plan to bring if accepted. \nComplete your application here: FMG Application Form \n\n\nApplication Information:\n\n\n\n\n\nApplication Window: August 4 – October 5\, 2026\nAll 2D and 3D artists are encouraged to apply.\nEach application may include up to 10 works\, and you may apply up to 3 times for a total of 30 works submitted to the exhibit.\nWorks are reviewed by a Jury Committee\, and all artists selected will be notified in writing on or before October 10\, 2026\n\n\n\n\n\nImportant Dates:\n\n\n\n\n\nShow Dates – November 6 – January 1\, 2027\nApplications Open – August 4 – October 5\, 2026\nArtist Acceptance Notification – on or before October 10\, 2026\nInstallation Fees due – November 3\, 2026\nArtwork Delivery – November 3 from 11am – 5pm\nPublic Open House / Artist Reception – November 13 from 5pm – 7pm\n\n\n\n\n\nFees:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nApplication: $20 per 10 works submitted. You may apply up to 3 times per exhibition\, for a total of 30 works submitted per show.\nInstallation: $40 for MVAC Members\, $48 for Not-Yet-Members (yearly MVAC membership begins at $25 – click here for more info) per 10 works accepted.\n25% MVAC Commission on any works sold during the show.\n\n\nAll artwork will need to installation ready – framed (if applicable) with a suitable hanger on the back\, gallery wrapped canvas with finished edge\, etc. MVAC and all employees does not assume any liability for lost\, stolen\, or damaged artwork while on display. All artists are strongly recommended to carry liability insurance.
