The Magic Valley Arts Council presents Beginning Bookbinding with Kristy Caprai

Have you ever come across the most beautiful paper and wished it could be in your sketchbook? Do you often wish for a pocket-sized booklet that you can tuck in your bag, ready to capture any passing thought? Join us in Beginning Bookbinding to learn how to create a personalized sketchbook/travel journal and bring those ideas to life!

Students will learn how to make a notebook using the chain stitch binding technique, and you will keep the book you make in class. Learn about bookbinding tools including awls, proper thread, needles, hole punching jigs, and more. Leave with an instructional sheet after the workshop so that you can continue to make journals at home.

These books make great travel-sized notebooks or sketchbooks, are endlessly customizable, and make for a great personalized DIY gift!

Whether you’re new to bookbinding or have dabbled in the past, this class offers a fun, approachable way to enjoy the craft and build your skills.
