Second Saturday at the Full Moon Gallery presents Illuminated Lettering with Michelle George

Illuminated Lettering, also known as “versals” is one of the very oldest forms of art.   A versal is a large capital letter used to start out a word, poem, verse, name, or song.  We will be decorating them in a variety of ways, using both watercolor and pen and ink.  We will make use of both positive and negative spaces to make our designs expressive, unique, and fun! Both beginners and more advanced artists will enjoy creating designs that are as simple or elaborate as you please! 

All materials provided. No experience necessary — beginners welcome!

About the Instructor:

Michelle George is a mostly self-taught watercolor artist, and has been painting for over 25 years.  After moving to Idaho in 2020, she has taken full advantage of the CSI classes which are free for those over 60 , including Drawing 1 and 2, Art History, Calligraphy, and Figure Drawing.  Michelle enjoys teaching adults, and teaches a watercolor group that meets around her kitchen table, as well as students that she teaches over Zoom.  From 2019 to 2023, Michelle was the Co-Program Director for the California Watercolor Association, conducting monthly General Meetings and hosting demonstrations over Zoom.  She has participated in Art and Soul in 2023 and 2025, and just recently has become the representative for the Idaho Water Society south central region.
