What is Sumi-e?
Sumi-e is a Japanese minimalist black ink painting style that focuses on capturing the “essence” or spirit of a subject rather than its precise appearance. This art form, using only black ink, water, brushes, and rice paper, utilizes fluid and spontaneous strokes to craft elegant, impressionistic depictions of nature.
